Belekeri Lighthouse

The Light beacon was first established in 1976 and is situated on kukra Island (Locally known as Kukkuda) in Arabian Sea about 4 Kms from Belekeri Port and 23 Kms of South East of Oyster Rock Lighthouse. Belekeri port is located 15 Kms south to karwar, Uttar Kanada District, Karnataka state. This port is mainly used for export of iron ore.The Belekeri Lighthouse is approachable from Belekeri port upto about 3 to 4 KM by hodi and Belekeri port is 32KM from Karwar.. The approach path from landing to lighthouse is near about 80 mts to 100 mts over through big rocks and then a kaccha road of about 200 to 250 mts to Lighthouse. The existing Lighthouse tower is closed structure of Reinforced Cement Concrete of square shape of and height of about 12 mtrs.The Lighthouse serves as an aid to navigation to mariners and local fishermen.
